A typical intended parent’s journey
There is no such thing as a typical surrogacy journey. Though the steps along the way may seem similar, every surrogacy case holds its own unique qualities that make gestational surrogacy a largely bespoke process.
With this in mind, we at Sunny Day Surrogacy approach each case with an open mind, both leveraging wisdom from our own personal surrogacy journey as well as consulting expert advice relevant to the intended parents.
We are with you from the first step and work to ensure that all details and idiosyncrasies are identified, understood and addressed, leaving intended parents to focus on what really matters: their new baby.

Consultation
The journey with Sunny Day Surrogacy begins with your first meeting over video conference. In this meeting, we will get to know more about you, your dream of parenthood and how we can help.

Contracts
As soon as you are ready, the team at Sunny Day Surrogacy will ask you to sign and submit a surrogacy agreement with us. This document will outline our responsibilities and your rights as intended parents over the process. It will also mark the beginning of our work to provide all necessary legal documentation of services provided as well as legal agreements for intended parents and surrogates. These documents will be crucial for passport applications and the overall exit process.

Sperm Collection
Once contractual agreements are in place, we will welcome you to come to Cyprus to meet with our clinics and give a sperm sample. Sperm will be analysed for viability and frozen. For HIV+ patients, sperm washing services are available to ensure the safety of baby and surrogate mother.

Egg Donor Selection & Embryo Creation
Selecting an egg donor is one of the most important decisions in the surrogacy journey. We work with egg donors generally between the ages of 22 and 30, living in various parts of the world to help you find your perfect match. Once selected, the egg donor will come to Cyprus for collection. Intended parents are also able to work with their own egg donor if desired. Eggs will be fertilised upon collection, and healthy embryos will be frozen on day 5.

Surrogate Selection
We work to connect parents with the best possible surrogate mothers. Surrogate mothers are selected based on psychological evaluation and medical screening, ensuring that the right person is matched with the right intended parents.

Medical Cycle & Embryo Transfer
Once the surrogate mother has been selected and the appropriate legal agreements are in place, the surrogate mother is medically prepared for in vitro fertilisation and the embryo is transferred. Intended parents have the option of transferring one or two embryos of the same genetic composition. Gender selection is also available.

Pregnancy
The big one! Within two weeks of the embryo transfer, a blood test will measure hCG levels in the surrogate’s blood and confirm whether a successful pregnancy has occurred.

Antenatal Care
Following the positive result, the surrogate mother will travel back to her home country and continue to receive medical care. One of the first medical visits will involve an ultrasound scan that will confirm the baby’s (or babies’) heartbeat(s). Our coordinator will work closely with your surrogate while she is outside of Cyprus and will report back to you with medical reports, photos and videos of these meetings.

Return to Cyrpus and Birth
At the start of the third trimester (week 28), your surrogate mother will return to Cyprus for continued care through birth. We will also ask for intended parents to return to Cyprus as well during this period to ensure presence on the expected birth day. Of course, unexpected births do happen, and the appropriate care can be arranged to allow for intended parents to make emergency travel plans to Cyprus. The surrogate and new baby will be in excellent care throughout the entire process, including delivery, post-birth, and paediatric care.

Exit Procedure
Our legal team has been working throughout your surrogacy journey to prepare the documentation that will be used to apply for birth certificates and first passports for your new baby. However, every country has a different procedure, so consultation with an immigration lawyer or your country’s embassy prior to your arrival in Cyprus is essential.

Why should I work with a Cyprus-based surrogacy agency?
Affordability: cost is the largest consideration for many intended parents. In Cyprus, surrogacy journeys are typically around half the cost of those in the United States, making surrogacy more accessible to those who may have thought it was out of reach. We believe that everyone who dreams of starting a family should have the opportunity to do so, and we strive to make our services as affordable as possible.
Efficiency: the average journey with our agency takes between 15 and 18 months, thanks to streamlined egg donor selection and surrogate matching processes. This means less waiting and more time to focus on preparing for the arrival of your new family member.
Medical Care: quality medical care is a top priority at every step of the surrogacy process. Cyprus offers a high quality of medical expertise and care, equivalent or better than care found in the US, UK, and EU. Boasting state-of-the-art laboratories that support processes like sperm washing, genetic testing, and gender selection as well as world-class hospitals to ensure the health and safety of surrogates, egg donors, intended parents and their future children, Cyprus has a lot going for it.
Legal Framework: laws around surrogacy in Cyprus allow for legal commercial gestational surrogacy, making it one of the only destinations in the European region. For LGBT, single, or HIV+ intended parents, it is the only option in this region.
Choosing a surrogacy agency can be a difficult decision, but we believe that the combination of efficiency, affordability, medical acumen and legal flexibility make Cyprus the right choice for many. Sunny Day Surrogacy is here to support you throughout your journey towards parenthood and beyond, and we look forward to helping you start the next chapter of your life.
How much does surrogacy cost at Sunny Day Surrogacy?
How long does the surrogacy process take?
Though every case has its own challenges and specifics, what is consistent is that compared with the US agencies, you will have more visibility on the timeline with Sunny Day Surrogacy due to the efficiencies in the egg donor selection and surrogate matching processes.
How many times do I need to come to Cyprus?
The second visit will be to meet your baby! We suggest that you plan travel about two weeks before the expected due date, both to acclimate yourselves to your new surroundings and to accommodate for any earlier-than-expected arrivals. We also have a check list on what you will need to bring with you.
How long do I need to stay in Cyprus after my child is born?
Once you acquire a passport for your little one, you are free to return to your home country. How long this takes is largely dependent on the efficiency of your embassy. To reference our own personal surrogacy journey, the US embassy provided passports for our twins 19 days after they were born. However, the Polish embassy took 6 weeks to provide a passport.
We at Sunny Day Surrogacy are very, very aware of the challenges of residing in a foreign country with a newborn while waiting for government authorities to process paperwork. We guarantee that we will thoroughly prepare you for the exit process, even before you arrive in Cyprus to meet your baby. The work for a smooth, painless return home is just as important as what comes before it.
Can I be a parent if I am single?
How does Sunny Day Surrogacy find qualified surrogates and/or egg donors?
Can I bring in an egg donor that I find myself?
What sort of legal considerations should I make?
We at Sunny Day Surrogacy have a first-class legal team that is able to advise on the legal framework in Cyprus. However, international surrogacy involves regulations outside Cypriot borders, and those regulations are subject to change. To ensure a smooth and safe return home after your child’s birth, please speak with an immigration lawyer or surrogacy lawyer at home.
If you decide to work with us, we will ask that we speak with your legal representation regularly throughout the journey to ensure that we are providing all required documentation that is needed for birth registration and passport issuance.
